There are more than 9000 Jan Aushadhi centers across the country under PM Jan Aushadhi Yojana. Medicines are made available at these centers at reasonable prices. These centers include 1759 types of medicines and 280 surgical instruments covering all types of diseases. The special thing is that these drugs are 50 to 90 percent cheaper than branded drugs.
Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra Yojana has been launched by the Government of India. This scheme is launched for economically weaker citizens. Generic medicines will be made available to citizens at low cost through Jan Aushadhi Kendra.
These drugs will be as effective as branded drugs. In its meeting held on 23 April 2008, the Pharma Advisory Forum decided to launch Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra 2023 Yojana. It was decided to open one outlet under the scheme in each district.
These centers will be opened in 734 districts of the country. The scheme will be administered by the Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Bureau of India. It was started in the year 2008 under the pharmaceutical department.
Quality generic drugs at affordable prices will be made available to the citizens of the country through the implementing agency. Apart from this, central pharma will procure drugs from public sector undertakings and private sector and monitor the scheme.

On 16 March 2022, the government informed that 8689 centers have been opened till February 2022 under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra Yojana.
Medicines supplied by these centers are provided at 50% to 90% less than branded medicines.
814.21 crores has been sold through this scheme in the financial year 2022-23.
Through which the citizens have saved about 4800 crore rupees.
Eligibility of the Scheme
Individual applicant should have D Pharma/B Pharma degree or appoint degree holder is mandatory.
Proof of which has to be produced at the time of submission of application or at the time of final approval.
If PM Jan Aushadhi Kendra wants to open any NGO or organization then it is mandatory to appoint B. Pharma or D. Pharma degree holder and submit proof while submitting application or at the time of final approval.
Rules for opening Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra in government hospitals and medical colleges in hospital premises, non-government organizations and charitable organizations will be given priority.
